CLOCK SERVICES

 

The moon dial was added to Grandfather clocks in the late 17th century.  It told nighttime travelers when the light of the full moon provided the most safety, advised farmers when they could harvest by the light of the full moon and is still used today by hunters worldwide.

 

HOW TO SET THE MOON DIAL

 

 

STEP 1 - Rotate dial clockwise to center moon face under the 15.
STEP 2 - Determine date of last full moon, see Full Moon calendar here.
STEP 3 - Rotate dial clockwise one click for each day past the full moon.

 

IMPORTANT!  If the moon dial does not move freely, wait 6 hours and try again.  The clock is advancing the moon phase and damage will occur if you force the dial.
